Registration for Religious Education Classes for the 2011/2012 year will take place in Father Sammons Hall after all Masses the first two weekends in August. You may also register on Wednesday evening, August 10th in Father Sammons Hall from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.

SOME OF THE CLASS SIZES WILL BE LIMITED, REGISTRATION WILL BE ON A FIRST-COME/FIRST-SERVE BASIS.

These registrations are for any child wishing to attend Pre-School through Grade 8. After the above listed dates, if your child is still unregistered, please contact Denise Murphy at 570.696.1144.

The cost of the program this year is $25.00 per child; $60.00 for three or more children. The fee is payable at registration.

We will need a copy of the child's baptismal certificate if they were baptized at another church. If transferring from another parish program, we will need a letter from the former parish stating that the child did attend and complete a particular grade. If you are a member of another parish and would like your child to attend classes at Saint Therese's, we will need written permission from the pastor of your parish.

Please note: Saint Therese's Parish Members will have first choice in the case that classes need to be limited because of lack of teachers or space.

Religious Education Class Listing

The students in Grades 1 through 6 have a choice of 5 options:

Option I - Monday Afternoons, 4:30 PM to 5:45 PM - at Gate of Heaven School / Front Building. The first class is Monday Sept. 19, 2011.

Option II - Tuesday Evenings, 6:30 PM to 7:45 PM - at Gate of Heaven School / Front Building. The first class is Tuesday, September 20, 2011.

Option III - Summer Session #1, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, June 18 - 29, 2012 - St. Therese’s Church Hall.

Option IV - Summer Session #2, Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, July 9 -20, 2012 - St. Therese’s Church Hall.

Option V - Family At-Home Program - weekly at home sessions & six Saturday morning family gatherings, 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM, Father Sammons Hall. Gathering dates: Oct. 8, Nov. 12, Dec. 17, Feb. 18, March 31, May 12.

Summer Session Students are also required to meet four times during the school year, from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM in Father Sammons Hall, on the following dates:
Oct. 22nd
Dec. 3rd
Feb. 4th
April 14th

Grades 7 and 8 is a two-year program which culminates in the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation. These Classes will be held on Sunday evenings at St. Therese’s Church from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. First class is Sunday, Sept. 18th, 2011.

Pre-School and Kindergarten Classes for children ages 3 to 5 are held on Sunday mornings during the 11:00 AM Mass in Father Sammons Hall. The program starts Sunday, September 18, 2011.

SPRED (Special Religious Education Classes) This program is for children with special needs (ages 6 and up). Classes will be held on Saturday mornings from 10:00 AM to 11:45 AM in Father Sammons Hall. First session is Saturday, Sept. 24th.

Pre-school Aide
Do you like to work with children? Youth in Grades 7-12 may aide in our pre-school program on Sunday morning, 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon in Father Sammons Hall. Tasks include assisting Pre- school teacher with setting out craft supplies, preparing snacks, and assisting children with crafts and lessons.

Teacher's Helper
Do you like to work with children? Youth in Grades 7-12 may volunteer to be a Teacher's Helper in any of our 1-6 grade classes. Mondays 4:30 - 5:45 PM or Tuesdays 6:30 - 7:45 PM.

Vacation Bible School
Do you like to have fun? Do you like to work with children? Youth in Grades 5-12 may volunteer as a youth helper in our Summer Vacation Bible School Program. Jobs include Pre-school through 4th grade teacher's helpers, arts and crafts helpers, skits and recreation aides.

Back Mountain Catholic Jr. High School Youth Council (6-8 Grades)
Are you interested in working with peers your own age in service to the community? You can help organize, plan and implement events such as overnight lock-ins and retreats. Council members meet twice a month for planning meetings (1st and 3rd Sundays of each month) from October to May, 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM, Father Sammons Hall at St. Therese?s Church.

Back Mountain Catholic Sr. High School Youth Council (9-12 Grades)
Are you interested in working with peers in the planning, organizing and implementation of service projects, social events and retreat experiences for youth your age? Council members meet twice a month for planning meetings (2nd and 4th Sundays of each month) from October to June, 7:30 PM - 9:00 PM.
